What to expect
Expect a slightly larger file than the HEIC original, that is normal. HEIC compresses roughly 40–50% tighter than JPG, so a 2 MB HEIC typically becomes a 3–4 MB JPG at quality 90, with no visible difference in a photograph. Resolution, orientation, and color are preserved; EXIF metadata is not carried over.
