Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 9, 2026
Scope
This policy applies to FastEdit at fastedit.net and the editor at app.fastedit.net.
Local Processing
FastEdit has no file-processing backend. Editing, converting, compressing, trimming, and export run locally in your browser via WebAssembly and other browser APIs. Your images, videos, and animations are not uploaded to us.
You can verify this yourself in your browser's DevTools Network tab while editing.
What We Collect
FastEdit does not require an account, registration, or profile. We do not ask for your name, email address, or other direct identifiers to use the product.
We use PostHog for first-party product analytics on fastedit.net and app.fastedit.net. Session replay only runs if you accept analytics cookies.
In the editor this includes events such as page views, feature usage, selected formats, export success or failure, file size, and media dimensions. On the marketing site we also record scroll depth, section views, CTA clicks, navigation clicks, and FAQ interactions. If you accept analytics cookies, session replay may record browsing and interface interactions such as clicks, scrolling, navigation, and UI state so we can diagnose friction and bugs.
- If you decline analytics cookies, PostHog runs in cookieless mode without PostHog analytics cookies, localStorage, sessionStorage, or session replay.
- If you accept analytics cookies, analytics persistence uses first-party cookies and localStorage.
- When session replay is enabled, input fields are masked by default.
- In the editor, filename and media preview areas are blocked from session replay capture when replay is enabled.
- We do not send file contents, filenames, image pixels, video frames, or EXIF metadata to analytics.
- Analytics requests are proxied through our domain, and PostHog's client configuration disables IP capture as an event property.
- Person profiles are disabled in our PostHog client configuration.
We use this data only to understand product usage and improve FastEdit. We do not use it for ads, remarketing, or cross-site advertising profiles.
Cookies and Logs
If you accept optional analytics, FastEdit sets first-party analytics cookies and localStorage entries for PostHog. If you decline, PostHog uses cookieless analytics based on a daily server-side hash and does not set PostHog analytics cookies, localStorage, or sessionStorage. FastEdit keeps a first-party privacy-choice cookie so your choice persists. You can change your choice at any time through the Privacy Choices controls.
FastEdit does not set authentication cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party ad trackers. Our web server is configured with access logging off, and we do not intentionally keep request logs containing visitor IP addresses, user-agent strings, or request histories.
Third-Party Providers
- PostHog for product analytics and optional session replay.
- Hugging Face and related delivery infrastructure for the optional background-removal model download.
If you use background removal, your browser makes a direct request to that provider to download the model file on first use. Your media is still processed locally and is not uploaded as part of that request.
Storage and Retention
Because FastEdit does not upload your files, we do not retain your files on our servers. Your media stays on your device and in browser memory while you work with it. If you use background removal, the downloaded model may be cached locally by your browser so it can be reused offline.
Analytics events and accepted session replay data are retained in PostHog for one year, after which they are automatically deleted.
Your Rights
FastEdit does not maintain user accounts, does not upload user files, and does not sell personal information or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. You can change your analytics choice at any time through the Privacy Choices controls.
If you have a privacy request under GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, or another applicable law, contact us and we will review it.
Children's Privacy
FastEdit is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information in connection with FastEdit, contact us and we will investigate.
Changes to This Policy
If this policy changes, we will update the date at the top of this page.
