How to Resize Video for TikTok
TikTok videos perform best at 1080x1920 pixels (9:16 aspect ratio). FastEdit lets you resize and crop any video to TikTok dimensions directly in your browser. No upload, no watermark, no sign-up. This guide covers how to get your video formatted correctly for TikTok.
Steps
01
Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. No download or account required. Everything runs in your browser.
02
Drop your video file
Drag and drop your video onto the editor. MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV, and other formats are all supported. The file stays on your device.
03
Select the TikTok preset
Open the presets menu and choose TikTok. This sets the output to 1080x1920 (9:16) MP4, which is the optimal format for TikTok uploads.
04
Adjust the crop area
Position the crop frame to keep your main subject centered. TikTok overlays text, buttons, and profile info on the right side and bottom, so keep critical content in the center of the frame.
05
Export
Choose MP4 with H.264 for best compatibility. Click Export to download, then upload to TikTok.
Tips
- TikTok optimal resolution is 1080x1920 (9:16). Videos outside this ratio will have black bars or be auto-cropped by TikTok.
- Keep file size under 287MB for mobile uploads and under 500MB for desktop uploads. FastEdit shows the estimated output size before export.
- Place important text and subjects in the center 60% of the frame. TikTok overlays the caption, share button, and profile picture on the edges.
- Export at 30 fps or higher for smooth playback. TikTok supports up to 60 fps.
- H.264 MP4 is the safest codec. TikTok re-encodes all uploads, so starting with H.264 minimizes quality loss from double compression.
