How to Trim a Video Online Free
Steps
Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net in any modern browser. No installation or sign-up is needed. The editor loads instantly.
Drop your video file
Drag and drop your MP4, WebM, MKV, MOV, or other video file onto the editor. The file stays on your device. Nothing is uploaded to any server.
Set trim start and end points on the timeline
Drag the trim handles on the timeline to set your start and end points. FastEdit provides frame-accurate trimming, so you can cut to the exact frame you need. Use keyboard shortcuts (arrow keys) to nudge frame by frame.
Preview the trimmed clip
Play the trimmed segment to confirm you have exactly the right section. Adjust the handles as needed. Changes are instant with no re-processing.
Choose output settings and export
Select your output format and codec. H.264 MP4 is the safest default for maximum compatibility. Click Export to download your trimmed video directly to your device.
Tips
- Use arrow keys to seek frame by frame for precise trim points. This is faster than dragging handles for fine adjustments.
- H.264 MP4 is the most universally compatible output. Use it unless you have a specific reason to choose another codec.
- Audio is preserved automatically during trimming. The audio and video remain in sync in the exported file.
- You can change resolution, codec, and frame rate during the trim | FastEdit re-encodes the trimmed segment, so all output settings are available.
- For screen recordings, try reducing the frame rate to 15 fps during export. Screen content rarely needs 30 fps, and the file size drops significantly.
