How to Make an Animated Discord Sticker
This guide shows how to prepare an animated Discord sticker asset in FastEdit from a GIF or video. Use the editor to trim, crop, resize, and optimize the animation before uploading it to Discord.
Walkthrough
- 01
Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. Your file is processed in the browser.
- 02
Drop a GIF or video
Start with a short GIF, WebP animation, MP4, MOV, or WebM. Short loops work best for stickers.
- 03
Trim the animation
Cut the clip down to the part you want. Shorter clips are easier to keep sharp and small.
- 04
Use the animated sticker preset
Select Discord Sticker (Animated) so the output is APNG, 320x320, and targeted at Discord's 512KB sticker limit.
- 05
Export and upload
Export the optimized APNG, then upload it in Discord from Server Settings > Stickers. Discord allows animated custom stickers up to 60 fps.
Small things worth checking
- Keep the motion simple. Small sticker previews make busy animation hard to read.
- Transparent PNG/WebP sources produce cleaner sticker edges. You can also use local background removal after the AI model downloads.
- If the file is too large, reduce dimensions, duration, frame rate, or quality.
- Discord requirements can vary by sticker type and server features, so check Discord during upload if it rejects the file.
