How to Blur Sensitive Info in Images and Videos
This guide shows you how to blur or redact sensitive information in screenshots and videos using FastEdit. Draw blur regions over faces, names, emails, or any private data. For videos, you can scope blur regions to specific time ranges.
Steps
01
Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. Your files are processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server, which is critical when handling sensitive content.
02
Drop your image or video
Drag and drop your screenshot, photo, or video file onto the editor.
03
Draw blur regions
Use the blur tool to draw rectangles over the areas you want to obscure. You can add multiple blur regions to cover different parts of the image or video.
04
Set time ranges (for video)
For video files, each blur region can be scoped to a specific time range. Set when the blur appears and disappears to track content that moves or changes over time.
05
Adjust blur strength and export
Set the blur radius high enough that the underlying content is unreadable. Preview the result, then export in your preferred format.
Tips
- Use a strong blur radius: the content should be completely unreadable, not just slightly obscured.
- For video, blur regions persist across the specified frame range, so you do not need to blur frame by frame.
- Since FastEdit runs 100% client-side, sensitive files never leave your device. This matters for compliance and privacy.
- Double-check the exported file by zooming in to ensure no sensitive text or data is readable through the blur.
