Blur and Redact Sensitive Information in Video
Use this single workflow for faces, license plates, screen recordings, account details, browser tabs, emails, access tokens, and other private regions. FastEdit uses manual, time-scoped blur regions: you decide exactly what is covered and when, and the source never has to be uploaded.

Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. Your files are processed entirely in your browser. Nothing is sent to any server, which is critical when handling sensitive content.

Drop the video and trim first
Load MP4, MOV, WebM, GIF, APNG, or animated WebP. Trim dead time before placing redactions so there are fewer frames to inspect.

Draw blur regions
Use the blur tool to draw rectangles over the areas you want to obscure. You can add multiple blur regions to cover different parts of the video.

Set time ranges for every position
Scope each region to the frames where the content is visible. When a face, window, or license plate moves, use another region for the next position instead of one oversized blur.

Adjust blur strength and export
Set the blur radius high enough that the underlying content is unreadable. Preview the result, then export in your preferred format.
Small things worth checking
- Use a strong blur radius: the content should be completely unreadable, not just slightly obscured.
- Inspect the first and last frames carefully. Notification banners, tabs, file names, and URLs often appear for only a moment.
- FastEdit does not automatically track faces. Split a moving subject into several time ranges and reposition the region for each range.
- Remove audio separately when names, meeting details, or credentials can be heard even after the pixels are redacted.
- Since FastEdit runs client-side, sensitive files never leave your device. This helps when handling private screen recordings or customer data.
- Double-check the exported file by zooming in to ensure no sensitive text or data is readable through the blur.
