- For screen recordings, drop the frame rate to 10-15 fps. Screen content is mostly static, and the size savings are dramatic with no visible quality impact.
- H.265 produces files 25-40% smaller than H.264 at the same quality, but not all platforms support it. Use H.264 when compatibility is critical.
- For a hard size target, estimate bitrate from duration, export once, then adjust bitrate or trim if the output is still too large.
- Removing or reducing audio bitrate helps for videos where audio quality is not important. Audio can account for a meaningful portion of short video file sizes.
