Compress Image to 50KB
Many forms, applications, and platforms require images under 50KB, such as ID photos, passport uploads, forum avatars, and government forms. FastEdit's fit-to-size feature automatically adjusts quality to compress any image to exactly 50KB or less, entirely in your browser with no upload.
Steps
01
Open FastEdit
Go to app.fastedit.net. No installation or account needed.
02
Load your image
Drag and drop your image (JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, or any supported format). It stays on your device, nothing is uploaded.
03
Enable fit-to-size
Turn on the fit-to-size feature and enter 50KB as your target. FastEdit will automatically find the optimal quality setting to hit this target.
04
Choose the output format
JPEG or WebP give the smallest files for photos. WebP is typically 25-35% smaller than JPEG. For images with transparency, use WebP or PNG.
05
Export your 50KB image
Verify the output size and quality in the preview, then export. The file is guaranteed to be at or under your 50KB target.
Benefits
- Fit-to-size guarantees the output is at or below 50KB, no manual trial and error.
- Perfect for passport photos, government forms, and ID uploads with strict size limits.
- Side-by-side comparison shows quality before you export.
- Especially important for sensitive documents: no upload means ID photos stay on your device.
- Supports all input formats including HEIC from iPhones.
Compression Tips
- Use WebP instead of JPEG for 25-35% smaller files at the same quality, giving you better quality within the 50KB limit.
- Resize the image dimensions first. A 500x500 image at moderate quality looks better than a 2000x2000 image crushed to 50KB.
- For ID photos and passport uploads, crop tightly to the subject before compressing. Less background means more bits for the face.
- AVIF can hit 50KB at higher visual quality than JPEG or WebP, but check that your target platform supports the format.
