X (formerly Twitter) displays images at specific aspect ratios that vary between the feed, detail view, and profile sections. Post images render best at 1200x675 (16:9), profile photos at 400x400, and header banners at 1500x500. Uploading at these exact dimensions prevents unexpected cropping and ensures your content looks sharp across all devices.

Profile page banner at 3:1 aspect ratio. The center portion is most visible: top and bottom edges may be clipped on different screen sizes.

1920x1080 or 1080x1920 MP4 (H.264) Max 512 MB
Video posts on X (Twitter). Landscape or vertical. Maximum 2:20 duration for free, longer for Premium. H.264 recommended.
Tips
- X converts PNG images with more than 900,000 pixels to JPEG: use PNG only for small graphics and screenshots with text.
- Timeline images are cropped to 16:9: design for this ratio to avoid unwanted cropping of important content.
- Profile photos and header banners should have key content away from edges since they are cropped differently on mobile and desktop.
- For maximum quality, export images at exactly the recommended dimensions rather than relying on X to resize them.
