How to Blur Part of a Video Online
Walkthrough
- 01
Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. The editor runs locally in your browser with no account, install, or upload step.
- 02
Drop your video
Drag and drop your MP4, MOV, WebM, GIF, APNG, or animated WebP file onto the editor. The source file stays on your device.
- 03
Draw a blur region
Open the blur tool and draw a rectangle over the part of the video you want to hide. Resize and reposition it directly on the preview.
- 04
Set the timeline range
Use the timeline region to choose when the blur starts and ends. Add more blur regions if the sensitive area moves or appears in multiple places.
- 05
Adjust strength and preview
Increase blur strength until the content cannot be read or recognized, then scrub through the video to verify every visible frame is covered.
- 06
Export the blurred video
Choose your output format and export settings, then export. The blur is baked into the downloaded file.
Small things worth checking
- Use stronger blur than looks necessary. Text and faces should be unreadable after export, not merely softened.
- For moving content, create separate blur regions for different timeline sections instead of making one oversized region cover the whole frame.
- Trim the clip before adding blur if you only need a short segment. It makes review faster and keeps the exported file smaller.
- Crop before placing blur regions when you are reframing for TikTok, Instagram, or Shorts so the blur position matches the final frame.
- Keep the original file separately. The exported blur is permanent and cannot be removed later.
