How to Convert HEIC to JPG
Prefer the shortest path instead of the walkthrough?
Open the dedicated converter pageSteps
Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. Works in any modern browser on Mac, Windows, Linux, or Chromebook. No installation required.
Drop your HEIC file
Drag and drop your HEIC or HEIF file onto the editor. You can also drop multiple files for batch conversion. The file is processed locally. Nothing is uploaded.
Select JPEG as the output format
Choose JPEG from the output format menu. JPEG is universally supported by every device, browser, app, and platform.
Adjust quality
Set the JPEG quality slider. 85-92% produces excellent quality with reasonable file sizes. Lower quality reduces file size at the cost of some visible compression artifacts.
Export
Click Export to download your JPG file. The converted image is ready to share, upload, or use anywhere.
Tips
- JPEG quality of 85-92% is the sweet spot. Visually indistinguishable from the original for most photos, with significantly smaller files than 100%.
- Batch convert multiple HEIC files at once by dropping them all onto FastEdit. Same settings apply to all files.
- To stop your iPhone from saving HEIC in the first place, go to Settings > Camera > Formats > Most Compatible. This switches to JPEG capture.
- HEIC supports features JPEG does not, like transparency and 16-bit color depth. If you need these, convert to PNG instead of JPEG.
- The converted JPEG retains the original resolution and EXIF data (camera info, date taken, GPS) from the HEIC source.
