How to Convert MOV to MP4
MOV is Apple's QuickTime container format. While MOV works well on Apple devices, MP4 is the universal standard supported everywhere. FastEdit converts MOV to MP4 directly in your browser. No upload, no watermark, no account. The conversion preserves video quality while producing a file that works on any device or platform.

01
Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. No installation or account needed. Runs in any modern browser.

Drop your MOV file
Drag and drop your MOV file onto the editor. iPhone recordings, screen captures, and QuickTime exports all work. The file stays on your device.
03
Select MP4 as the output format
Choose MP4 from the output format menu. MP4 is the most universally supported video format across all devices, browsers, and platforms.
04
Choose your codec and quality
Select H.264 for maximum compatibility, or H.265 for smaller file sizes when the target platform supports it. Set quality to 80-90% for a good balance of size and fidelity.
05
Export
Click Export to download your MP4. The converted file is ready to share, upload, or embed anywhere.
Tips
- H.264 is the safest codec choice. It plays everywhere. Use H.265 only when you know the target platform supports it.
- MOV and MP4 are both container formats that can hold the same codecs. If your MOV already uses H.264, the conversion is a re-encode with minimal quality change.
- For iPhone screen recordings (which are MOV by default), converting to MP4 makes them compatible with Windows, Android, and web platforms.
- You can trim, crop, or change resolution during the conversion. No need for a separate editing step.
- Keep quality at 80-90% for general use. Only use 95-100% for archival purposes, as the file size increase is disproportionate to the visual improvement.
