How to Remove Image Background

Open FastEdit
Go to fastedit.net. No account or installation needed. The AI model loads directly in your browser.

Drop your image
Drag and drop your image onto the editor. Supported formats include JPEG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, TIFF, BMP, SVG, and JXL. The image stays on your device.

Click Remove Background
Select the background removal tool. The AI model analyzes the image and separates the foreground subject from the background. Processing takes a few seconds depending on image size and your device speed.

Review the result
Check the preview to make sure the subject is cleanly separated. The AI handles most subjects well. People, products, animals, and objects with clear outlines produce the best results.

Export as PNG or WebP
Choose PNG or WebP as the output format to preserve the transparent background. Click Export to download your image with the background removed.
Small things worth checking
- Export as PNG or WebP to preserve transparency. JPEG does not support transparency and will replace the removed background with a solid color.
- The AI works best with clear foreground-background separation. Well-lit subjects against distinct backgrounds produce the cleanest cutouts.
- For product photos, place items against a contrasting background before photographing to help the AI identify edges more accurately.
- Processing happens entirely on your device. The AI model is loaded once and runs locally via WebAssembly. No internet connection is needed after the initial page load.
- Process one image at a time for background removal. Batch mode handles shared conversion and resize workflows, but background removal is controlled in the editor.
